Real/Reel: Pacman to File Legal Case Againts Floyd Mayweatjer Jr. and Co.

Real: Boxing champ Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao plans to file libel charges against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his father Mayweather Sr. and Golden Boy Promotions for wrongly accusing Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs (PED) and demanded that he take an un-required blood test, giving the impression that his recent successes might be due to some type of performance-enhancing drug.

Here is Pacquiao's official statement:

"Enough is enough. These people, Mayweather Sr., Jr. and Golden Boy Promotions, think it is a joke and a right to accuse someone wrongly of using steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. I have tried to just brush it off as a mere pre-fight ploy, but I think they have gone overboard.

"I have instructed my promoter, Bob Arum, head of Top Rank, Inc., to help me out in the filing of the case as soon as possible...

"I maintain and assure everyone that I have not used any form or kind of steroids and my way to the top is a result of hard work, hard work, hard work, and a lot of blood spilled from my past battles in the ring, not outside of it."

Reel: PBB Double Up Update: Cathy Remperas is the new Head of Household. Nominated for eviction this week are Rica Paras, Sam Pinto, Johan Santos, and Paul Jake Castillo.

Reel: StarStruck V Update: Sef Cadayona is the fourth to be eliminated. He was joined in the bottom group by Princess Snell and Rox Montealegre.

Pope Benedict XVI Attacked by a Woman Stranger on Christmas Eve Mass

A woman, said to be mentally disabled, jumped the barriers in St. Peter's Basilica and knocked down Pope Benedict XVI at the start of Christmas Eve Mass.

The commotion occurred as the Pope's procession was making its way toward the main altar and shocked gasps rang out among the thousands who packed the basilica. The procession came to a halt, the music stopped and security rushed to the trouble spot.

Witness video showed a woman dressed in a red hooded sweat shirt vaulting over the wooden barriers that cordoned off the basilica's main aisle and rushing toward the pope before being swarmed by bodyguards.

The video showed the woman grabbing the Pope's vestments as she was taken down by guards, with Pope Benedict then falling on top of her.

The 82-year old Pope remained on the ground for a few seconds before being helped back up by attendants. At that point, a few shouts of "viva il papa!" (long live the pope!) rang out, followed by cheers from the faithful, witnesses said.

After getting up, Benedict, flanked by tense bodyguards, resumed his walk to the basilica's main altar to start the Mass. The Pope appeared unharmed but somewhat shaken and leaned heavily on aides and an armrest as he sat down in his chair.

Benedict made no reference to the disturbance after the service started. As a choir sang, he sprinkled incense on the altar before opening the Mass with the traditional wish for peace in Latin.

A Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Ciro Benedettini said the woman had been taken into custody by Vatican police. He said she also knocked down Cardinal Roger Etchegaray, who was taken to hospital for a checkup.

Here's the video of Pope Benedict knocked down by a woman:

"Shutter Island" Starring Leonardo DiCaprio - Full Movie Trailer

Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the horror thriller "Shutter Island" directed by Martin Scorsese.

The film is based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane. Director Martin Scorsese and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who had worked together on three films, were both attracted to Shutter Island as their next collaboration.

The film is about two U.S. marshals who investigate the disappearance of a patient from a hospital for the criminally insane on an island in Massachusetts. They run into trouble when they are deceived by the hospital’s chief administrator, a hurricane hits and an inmate riot traps them on the island. The setting of the film was in 1954.

In Total Film magazine, Scorsese says one of his influences on the film was Orson Welles‘ 1962 film The Trial — an adaptation of Franz Kafka’s novel — in particular its use of corridors, tunnels, claustrophobic ceilings, and angular lenses. He also discusses the importance of costume choices as an element of characterization, noting that a striking choice can leave a subconscious imprint of a character’s essence in the spectator’s mind: in Shutter Island, he made Dr. Cawley smoke a pipe, and in some scenes of the film he seems covered by a cloud of smoke, hiding something, with an aura of malice and mystery.

Also starring in the film are Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Emily Mortimer, Max von Sydow, Jackie Earle Haley, Ted Levine, John Carroll Lynch, Elias Koteas and Patricia Clarkson.

Annina Ucatis from Big Brother Germany Visits PBB + PBB Christmas Ball Updates

The big package has finally arrived!

Big Brother Germany ex-housemate Annina Ucatis landed on Philippine soil last Tuesday, December 22, with her real life boyfriend Sasha Schwan, who was also a housemate in BB Germany. She is safe and ready to spicen up the holiday season inside the "Pinoy Big Brother" house.

Annina, who has the same birthday with Paul Jake, said she doesn't know much about the Philippines, but she promised to make her stay "memorable." She, however, refused to conceal her age for the meantime.

Meanwhile, the PBB Christmas Ball pushed through with performances from the brightest singers today such as Christian Bautista, Richard Poon, and the band Imago. Christian Bautista also danced with Sam, while Richard Poon swooned Rica.

Sam and Rica were the only two housemates who weren't invited by any of the PBB boys as a date in the said ball. This caused the two to feel bad and cry.

Rica said she felt she didn't belong to the Christmas ball, which she called "a parade of rejection." According to Doc Randy Dellosa, PBB's resident psychologist, Rica has gone through a string of rejections since her childhood and teenage years. Receiving no invitiation to the ball allegedly brought back these memories and having drunk alcohol made her sob more than the usual.

Sam, on the other hand, was used to not receiving invitations to events as most men would often be intimidated by her "model" status. After seeing her sobbing, Johan invited her to dance but she declined his offer. Paul Jake then pulled her to the dance floor but that too didn't work.

Meanwhile, Jason and Melai's much awaited date has happened after being chosen by the public as the King and Queen of the ball! The two were brought to Star City where they rode the Balloon wheel with red wine while overlooking the Mall of Asia. The two were also caught holding each other's hands while in the van!

Find out how the housemates react to Annina's arrival. Join Mariel Rodriguez in "Uber" after "Banana Split Daily Serving," Toni Gonzaga in "PBB Double Up" on Primetime Bida after "Dahil May Isang Ikaw," and Bianca Gonzalez in "PBB Double Uplate" every after midnight.

"Biyaheng 2010: The GMA News and Public Affairs Yearend Special" on December 27 at SNBO

As the year 2009 ends, another journey for our country begins.

This December 27, the GMA News and Public Affairs Department takes us on a trip that would not just look back at the events that shaped the nation for the last 12 months but also bring us forward to a future anchored on the 2010 presidential elections. Premier broadcast journalists Jessica Soho and Arnold Clavio take us to one exciting journey through history in "Biyaheng 2010: The GMA News and Public Affairs Yearend Special."

2009 has been an eventful year for the Philippines. There were victories and triumphs, but there were also calamities, crimes and deaths, in addition to our unpredictable political scenario. Within just two months, the whole of Luzon was submerged under water as Typhoons Ondoy, Pepeng and Santi went on full speed and devastated thousands of lives. Shocking crimes also transpired from all corners of the country, including the gruesome Maguindanao Massacre wherein 57 innocent civilians were killed, more than half of which were journalists.

Several iconic personalities also made the headlines this year with their sudden demise, including former president and democracy icon Corazon Aquino, Master Rapper Francis Magalona, King of Pop Michael Jackson and Iglesia ni Kristo’s influential leader Ka Erdy Manalo. As always, Philippine politics is as riotous as traffic in Manila. With the coming 2010 elections, politicians go counter-flow with their alliances, jumping from one political party to another and making the political scene a war arena.

However, despite these “road blocks,” heroic acts and memorable triumphs still uplifted our spirit and pushed us to continue moving forward.

Efren Penaflorida Jr. gave honor to the country when he was chosen as CNN’s Hero of the Year for his pushcart classroom project. Muelmar Magallanes, who lost his own life after braving the rampaging floods to save lives during the Ondoy onslaught, was hailed as one of Time Magazine’s Top 10 Heroes of the Year. Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao became a boxing legend when he achieved his 7th boxing title after winning back-to-back victories against Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto. Almost a dozen Filipino boxers also emerged as winners in their boxing fights, making this year the country’s Golden Age for boxing.

But with all the events that happened in 2009, the question still remains: what is in store for us in 2010?

Join award-winning journalists Jessica Soho and Arnold Clavio as they revisit the past and relate it to our country’s future through the 2010 Elections in “Biyaheng 2010: The GMA News and Public Affairs Special,” airing this December 27, 2009 at 10:45 PM (SNBO Timeslot) over GMA-7.

Yaya Luring is from Mangatarem, Pangasinan. She first joined the Cuneta household as a laundrywoman when Sharon was only 13 years old.

It was former Pasay City mayor Pablo Cuneta who put her in charge of her youngest daughter, Sharon—the two were inseparable since.

Yaya Luring’s body is interred at Sanctuario de San Antonio on McKinley Road, Forbes Park, Makati. She will be laid to rest at the Heritage Park on Dec. 23.

Brittany Murphy is Dead

32- year-old Hollywood actress Brittany Murphy has died of full full cardiac arrest early Sunday, December 20, 2009, morning following a 911 call from her husband, Simon Monjack. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

"The sudden loss of our beloved Brittany is a terrible tragedy," her family says in a statement. "She was our daughter, our wife, our love and a shining star. We ask you to respect our privacy at this time."

Murphy began her career at age 9 on Broadway in Les Misérables, and went on to several short-lived television gigs before landing her role as Tai in 1995's hit comedy Clueless.

She starred in hit films as 8 Mile, Uptown Girls, Sin City, Don't Say a Word, and voiced the part of Luanne Platter in the Fox animated series King of the Hill. She became a tabloid favorite for dating Ashton Kutcher during and after their film, Just Married.

The actress was engaged several times—first to former agent, Jeff Kwatinetz, then Little Black Book production assistant Joe Macaluso—before marrying screenwriter Monjack in 2007.

GMA Network CEO Felipe Gozon Receives Business Excellence Award from BNA

GMA Network Chairman, President and CEO lawyer Felipe Gozon was recently named one of the 2009 Business Excellence Awardees by leading business magazine BizNews Asia (BNA).

Felipe Gozon, among the first to receive the honor, was cited for his overall management excellence, after transforming GMA Network into the ‘largest television station in the country. Gozon was responsible for increasing the network’s net income by more than 10-fold since assuming office in late 2000.

He was also cited for 'enriching the lives of Filipinos everywhere with innovative programming, quality entertainment, responsible delivery of news and information and unfailing commitment to public service.'

The BNA Business Excellence Awards are given to companies 'in recognition of the excellence of their products or service and business model.' Guest of honor President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo presented the award to Gozon and other winners.

"GMA Network’s success as a company is the result of our continuing effort to live by our corporate mission, vision and core values. I am glad that our efforts to serve the public are being recognized by prestigious organizations here and abroad, including BizNews Asia," Gozon said.

Ka-Shake TV5 is Giving the Kapamilya and Kapuso TV Networks a Strong Competition

With telecom magnate Manny V. Pangilinan at the helm, TV5 is determined to give ruling networks ABS-CBN and GMA-7 a good strong competition. The station is on a recruitment mode, luring talents from the top two networks. First, Paolo Bediones, from GMA-7, and now according to source, might be Willie Revillame's turn. An executive position is also being offered to Roselle Monteverde, daughter of Regal Films' Mother Lily Monteverde.I. Also being eyed is a popular ABS-CBN showbiz field reporter. The baits: better pay, better future and better working conditions.

From way back, even during the time of Edward Tan and then Tonyboy Cojuangco, TV5 has been coming up with innovative shows later reinvented by other channels. GMA’s top-rating gag show Bubble Gang started as Tropang Trumpo on TV5 (then known as ABC 5), and so did Eezy Dancing that inspired ABS-CBN to put up Keep on Dancing (hosted by Dayanara Torres who was later replaced by Charlene Gonzalez) and is back on TV5 as Shall We Dance? hosted by Lucy Torres.

TV5’s Talentadong Pinoy, hosted by Ryan Agoncillo, seems to have given the two top networks an idea to come up with their own versions, Showtime (ABS-CBN) and It’s Showwwtime (GMA). Even Pinoy Records, also on GMA hosted by Chris Tiu and Manny Pacquiao, has adapted the Talentadong Pinoy format.

"Tanging Yaman" Soon on ABS-CBN

In celebration of the 60th year anniversary of Filipino soap opera, ABS-CBN is preparing another teleserye with a star-studded cast.

Tanging Yaman is an upcoming teleserye on ABS-CBN from the makers of the hit teleserye Tayong Dalawa slated to debut in the first quarter of 2010.

Topbilling the said teleserye are Melissa Ricks, Erich Gonzales, Matt Evans, Enchong Dee, and Ejay Falcon. It also stars Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Jodi Sta. Maria, Rowell Santiago, Leo Martinez, and Ron Morales.
