With a drastically new haircut and high praise from all the judges, Katie Waissel must have thought she'd turned a corner and left all the controversy behind her last night.
But while X Factor contestant put in arguably her best performance of the series on the show, she won't have been in a good mood today.
Poor Miss Waissel has suffered a devastating blow after discovering that her grandmother is a high-class escort.
According to the People, Katie's 81-year-old maternal grandmother Sheila Vogel charges up to £250 per hour for sex through a website called Vintage Vamps.
And it also claimed that the news was broken to Katie after her X Factor performance last night, leaving the 24-year-old 'absolutely devastated'.
The paper quoted a family source as saying: 'This has torn the family apart. Out only hope is that it doesn't lead to more goading of Katie.'
Katie is very close to her grandmother and even used her surname when she launched her music career in the US last year.
Using the pseudonym Cecilia Bird, Vogel, who is 82 next month, appears on the website in a number of flirty photographs - one even shows her breasts through a fishnet top.
The agency - which says it charges clients between £150 and £250 to hire an escort for the first hour - describes Vogel as its 'great dame'.

It said: 'Classic vamps are like fine wine and we are delighted to introduce one of our agency's great vintages, the grand dame Cecilia Bird.
'The cultured lady has recently celebrated her 80th birthday.'
On Sheila's profile, she said she visits the gym frequently to keep fit and has an active lifestyle.
She added: 'Beneath my conservative exterior lurks the secret passion to meet up with like-minded gentlemen to share the taste of forbidden fruits.'

Sheila works in St John's Wood, north London and visits men at their homes, listing her availability from between 2pm and 9pm.
A family member told the People that Katie will be very upset to learn about her grandmother and added: 'She is extremely fond of Sheila who has been really supportive throughout her career.'All we can hope is that it won't affect Katie's chances of staying in the competition.'
