Split: Eva Longoria has filed for divorce from husband Tony Parker after three years of marriage

Eva Longoria has filed for divorce from husband Tony Parker just hours after denying reports they were planning to split.

The Desperate Housewives actress filed the documents at Los Angeles Superior Court this afternoon, a source told US website People.com.

The news comes after a spokesperson for the 35-year-old actress yesterday shot down a report that claimed her basketball player husband had filed for divorce on Monday in Texas.

According to People, Longoria was 'totally and completely blindsided' by fresh reports her 28-year-old NBA star husband has been unfaithful.

American showbiz website US Weekly has also reported Tony has allegedly been texting a mutual family friend 'hundreds of times a month for almost a year.'

An insider said: 'Eva is heartbroken by the betrayal,' adding that Tony admitted to the behaviour after Eva confronted him.

Eva and Tony were engaged in November 2006 and married in July of 2007 in a Roman Catholic ceremony in Paris, France.

They first met after a San Antonio Spurs basketball game, when she and her father Enrique were invited back to the team’s press room to meet the players.

Eva and Tony immediately hit it off, and he asked Eva and her father to join him for dinner.

And according to the actress, he had no idea that she was famous.

Eva says, 'He was the last person on earth who hadn’t seen Desperate Housewives! We have the 20th Anniversary DVD. We watched all six in a row.'

And Tony was clearly smitten by the pint-sized brunette.

He said: 'I really thought she was very beautiful inside and had a good heart. She’s very family oriented, and me.. I love my family and my friends. She’s the same way.'

Their wedding took place at the Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois Church in Paris, across from the Louvre.

And it was a lavish event even by Hollywood standards.

Desperate Housewives producer Marc Cherry was a guest at the wedding, along with Eva's co-stars Teri Hatcher, Nicolette Sheridan and Felicity Huffman.

And he was overwhelmed with the opulence on display.

Cherry said: 'It was the kind of thing where you were kind of like, "I didn't know I knew people this rich".

'The chateau where the reception was was kind of like a mini Versailles and the cathedral, it was the nicest wedding I've ever been to in terms of where the wedding took place.

And he believed that the couple were truly in love.

Cherry said: 'There were all kinds of fans outside, paparazzi and you really felt like you were part of an event. I was just going to the wedding of a friend and suddenly realised, "This will be the only time I ever go to a wedding like this in my life" and it was really a lot of fun.

'The thing that made it really special for me was that after all the glamour and the glitz and stuff, when it came to the wedding toast, they were just like any other couple in love, they were both adorable.'

Eva and French-born Tony enjoyed an extended European break over the summer, taking in places including Venice and Croatia.

In the past Eva has spoke of her plans to quit the U.S. once her show Desperate Housewives comes to and end and move to Parker's French homeland.

She was quoted as saying in an interview earlier this year: 'I feel at home when I go there. So for me to actually be there is always a joy.'

Longoria was previously married to American soap star Tyler Christopher from 2002 until 2004.
