Mariah Carey gets an early Christmas present as her festive album goes top ten... and it's only November!

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Christmas gift: Mariah Carey, who appears in a Santa Claus mini dress in her Oh Santa video, is number one in the Holiday chart for her new Christmas album

She's a self confessed lover of the Christmas season.

And now, Mariah Carey has received a very special early seasonal present.

The star's new festive album Merry Christmas II You has topped both the U.S. R&B chart and the holiday chart, and is also in fourth place on the national chart.

The album, which was released on October 29, features covers of Christmas classics, plus four original Christmas songs, including the single Oh Santa.

The video for the song sees Carey dressed in a Santa Claus style mini dress and performing in front of an adoring festival crowd.

'It's just one of these up tempo festive fun kind of retro sixties songs, but I didn't want it to feel like it was 2010 or whatever year,' she told Fox All Access recently.

'I want it to have a timelessness to it,' she said.

'It's just a cute little song and I'm happy that it's reaching people and connecting with people,' she said. 'And the fact that it's already number one in the holiday chart is a pretty big deal.'

The star, who recently announced she and husband Nick Cannon are expecting their first baby next year, also expressed her delight on her Twitter page today.
