Tambayan DJ Chacha’s ‘Mwahmwah TsupTsup’ Now a Hit Novelty Song

Gone are the days when radio deejays were simply introducing songs.

Now, they are celebrities in their own right, appearing on television shows, getting commercial deals, and yes, even coming up with their very own songs.

Such is the case of Tambayan 101.9’s DJ Chacha, who soared to popularity because of her witty adlibs, sexy spiels, and most of all, her popular tagline “mwahmwah-tsuptsup.”

A combination of two words which both pertain to a kiss, “mwahmwah-tsuptsup” is Chacha’s signature line in her late night program that airs from 9pm to 1am on ABS-CBN’s FM radio station. While the program’s timselot is usually associated with a quiet and mellow type of programming, it’s the opposite on this side of the FM radio band.

Chacha’s program starts out with “Ano’ng Meron,” a segment wherein listeners can share about whatever is going on with their lives. “They usually end talking about love issues,” Chacha said.

Things heat up when the clock strikes 12 midnight and “Sexy Time” begins. The segment, targeted at adults, encourages people to talk about their naughty escapades. A caller is put on-air and he or she would open up to Chacha. “We do talk about sex but of course, it’s never vulgar,” Chacha explained. “If you try to listen to the segment, it’s actually really funny!

At the end of each call, the caller would get the chance to do the “mwahmwah-tsuptsup” with Chacha. “I always tell them, you take care of the ‘mwahmwah’ part, and I’ll do the ‘tsuptsup!’” she exclaimed. Fans of the program highly anticipate this portion, that some even resort to inventing stories for Sexy Time just so they would be put on-air and they could get to experience the “mwahmwah-tsuptsup.”

The tagline is such a hit that even Ted Failon asks Chacha to deliver her famous tagline whenever Chacha does her showbiz reports in DZMM 630. Mall shows which she hosts are also never complete without her saying the tagline much to the delight of her fans.

This made Star Records sit up, take notice, and offer her a recording contract.

Composer Kiks Salazar of Bellhaus Entertainment came up with a novelty song entitled “Mwahmwah-Tsuptsup,” and this was produced in coordination with Star Records. The song is currently featured on Tambayan 101.9’s “Click Dito,” which highlights songs that have the potential to become a hit.

And it is indeed on its way to becoming a hit. Now available on digital distribution through www.starrecords.ph, the song has been downloaded many times over by Chacha’s loyal fans. It will also be available soon for mobile download.

The 23-year old deejay is ecstatic about this. “The song is really cute and I’m happy that people like it,” Chacha said. “Now I’m hoping the song becomes a dance craze too just like the songs of other novelty singers!

With a loyal fanbase on Facebook and a number of fan clubs to her name, it sure isn’t impossible. And so if you ever chance upon her doing a mall show, don’t be surprised if the host also doubles as a front act.

Tune in to Chacha’s program on Tambayan 101.9 San Ka Pa! on the FM radio band or listen online and enjoy the live video stream on www.tambayan1019.com from 9pm to 1am.
