The 26-year-old star, who appeared on reality show I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2008, was attacked outside the couple's old home in Chelsea on a Sunday morning in August.
Carly, who has a seven-month-old daughter Ruby with the footballer, told Hello! magazine: 'Both Joe and I were in such shock at first, we didn't feel angry - that maybe comes later.
'I just kept telling myself that I'd been lucky because Ruby wasn't in the car. Her little car seat was there in the back and she could so easily have been with me.
The full interview appears in this week's edition of Hello!'And although I've been back to that part of London since and I did feel safe again, it has made me more cautious all round and more aware of the fact that things like this can happen, unexpectedly, wherever you are.'
Carly was sitting in her black Audi A4 opposite her £3million Chelsea townhouse when she was pulled out of the driver’s seat by her attackers.
One mugger sped off with the car while the others made their escape on motorbikes.
The raid happened on August 8 at 8.50am as the couple were completing their move to Formby, near Liverpool. Cole now plays football for Liverpool after moving from Chelsea.
Miss Zucker married Cole in June 2009 in Chelsea, wearing a £10,000 wedding dress.
Their first daughter, Ruby Tatiana Cole, was born this March.
