If this is a woman whose relationship has taken a nasty turn, then Britney Spears sure knows how to put on a brave face.

The pop star was snapped looking content as she enjoyed a romantic break with Jason Trawick for her birthday.

And the couple looked closer than ever as they posed for pictures at a private villa in Mexico.


Britney was celebrating her 29th birthday on December 2 and she and Trawick, 39, jetted off for a long weekend at a private $5,000 a night villa in the Conchas Chinas resort.

And the couple, who have been dating for a year, appeared to have shrugged off the allegations that Trawick had physically abused her, made by Star Magazine in a report based on an interview with Britney's childhood friend, Jason Alexander, who she married briefly for 55 hours back in 2004.

The report alleged that Britney had accused Trawick, who was also her former manager, of hitting her, telling Alexander 'he beat on me' in recorded evidence of telephone conversations between the two.

Britney's reps furiously denied the allegations and said that Trawick has 'never laid a hand on Britney'.

She even took to her Twitter account to hit out at the reports and wrote: 'Star Magazine, Radar Online, Jason Alexander and the rest of you liars, Ya'll can kiss my lily white southern Louisiana ass!'

But despite their united front, it looked as though the incident was still playing on Britney's mind.

Even though she smiled for the posed shots and looked happy to be by her boyfriend's side, she looked like her thoughts were elsewhere.

And her body language looked stiff and distant in the picture of them lounging on poolside chairs.

But a source close to the couple said they shrugged off the allegations and added: 'They did not allow it to get them down.'

And Britney declared that her birthday break - during which Trawick, 39, surprised the singer with a red-velvet cake shipped from Los Angeles - was 'amazing'.

She said: 'My birthday weekend away with Jason was amazing. Best birthday of my life!'

But Nicole Scherzinger should probably have asked for some help when she arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday.

The slender brunette tried to tackle her mountain of luggage all by herself as she made her way through the terminal.


And she quickly grew frustrated when she realised she was no match for all the heavy bags she travelled with.

Luckily for the star, her driver was soon on hand to help her get everything safely into a car.

Despite her tiny frame, the singer has admitted that when she gets on stage, she is a wild animal.

She says: 'When I go on stage I kind of turn into a beast sometimes. This other alter-ego, you know, that you kind of get to see in Poison and I want the music to bring that to life for me.

And Nicole also talked about using auto-tune in songs, saying she hates using it.

She says: 'I don't really like auto-tune too much depending on what kind of songs I have.

But she has no desire to have a huge brood of children like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

She says: 'Yeah, I'd like to adopt. I would like to have a couple of kids in the future, no more than that. I won't be surrounded by children.'

The 30-year-old - who was dressed in an unusual outfit that featured fitted cargo pants, a navy top and towering heels - indulged a spot of retail therapy and grooming on her day out in Los Angeles.

She was seen trying on a burgundy cropped coat during a visit to the high-end Barneys New York in Beverly Hills.


She also stopped in at a nearby nail salon for a pedicure and also visited a hair dresser before finally heading home in her white Rolls Royce .

Her outing came a day after Kim and her sisters were brutally spoofed in a skit on the U.S. comedy show, Saturday Night Live.

Dressed in skinny jeans, high heeled black boots and a grey fur jacket with silver detailing, the 24-year-old looked on a mission as she hot-footed it into the store.

The mother-of-one was joined by husband Wayne Rooney's cousin Claire, who helped Coleen select armfuls of clothes and shoes.

She tried on a black beanie hat and was seen admiring a white dress with a grey print in the store.

The 20-year-old lived up to her rock n roll heritage in an all-black ensemble of cropped leggings, T-shirt and leather jacket as she met a friend for lunch.

She is likely to be crashing on the couch of her sister Peaches, who lives in LA, but there was no sign of the older sibling - who has not been seen in public for several weeks.

Peaches, 21, halted her daily Tweeting and went into hiding around the same time she split from boyfriend Eli Roth in late October.

She had been telling her followers about suffering from insomnia and 'sadness' in the days leading up to her Twitter blackout, and the next week news of her break up emerged.

But the socialite appears to be ready to step back into the spotlight, as it was announced today she will front a new TV show.

Peaches will present ITV2 series OMG! Totally Peaches, which will see her tackle personal issues put to her by members of a live studio audience.

Peaches said in a statement today: 'I'm so excited to be presenting this show and getting to meet and interact with the ITV2 audience and the guests.

'I can't wait to find out what's really on the minds of young people in Britain today.'

Lembit Opik must have been doing some serious thinking about his future while in the jungle, because he was spotted shopping for engagement rings with his girlfriend yesterday.

Since departing I’m A Celebrity, the 45-year-old has been romancing 21-year-old Merily McGivern in the Australian sun, before the pair head back to the UK.

And their most recent shopping trip has sparked speculation that Lembit has popped the question to his young girlfriend, who's 24 years his junior.


The couple was photographed shopping in Tiffany & Co in Surfers Paradise, Queensland, where Merily was seen trying on a diamond encrusted band on her wedding ring finger.

Merily then walked out of the store, arm in arm with her beau, holding onto a little blue Tiffany’s bag, but refused to tell photographers what they had bought.

The wide grins on their faces indicated the little bag was definitely holding onto something special though and the happy couple looked overjoyed with their purchase.

And after shopping for rings, the couple took a dip in the Versace Hotel swimming pool to celebrate, where they've been staying since Lembit left the show.

If the couple are planning a wedding, it wouldn’t be the former MPs first engagement, Lembit was once engaged to ITV weather presenter Sian Lloyd, followed by his engagement to Cheeky Girl Gabriela Irimia.

The pair left The Abbey hand-in-hand on Wednesday night and a beaming Christina was carrying a single red rose in her hand.


It's the second outing in as many weeks for the couple.

They were spotted on a double date with Nicole Richie and Joel Madden at Hollywood's Soho House last week, but Rutler left the venue hiding under a blanket.

A source insists 'it's not serious yet', but added: 'It's something she is exploring and finding comfort in.

'It's new and she's taking it day by day,' the insider told People magazine.

The couple met while filming Burlesque in Los Angeles earlier this year.

The film wrapped in September and Christina's relationship with to record producer Jordan Bratman ended a month later. The former couple have a two-year-old son, Max.

Both Christina and Jordan have remained silent on the reasons behind their break-up.

She said at the time: 'Out of respect for my husband, I prefer to keep the specifics private.'

Sarah took her mother out for a birthday surprise at London's Hyde Park Winter Wonderland fairground alongside her boyfriend Tom Crane.

And as her bandmates Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle have embarked on solo careers, perhaps Miss Harding has been sprucing up her look for her own debut.

Pictures show the mother-of-two looking visibly upset as she and Jonathan argued, at one point covering her mouth and crying.

Jonathan, also 24, appeared frustrated and defensive as he listened to his girlfriend.

Unfortunately, she shared those feelings with a national magazine, and it is unlikely that Jonathan hasn't heard about it.

The group had continued partying after cheering Powell on at his gig at the Bedford Arms in Balham earlier in the evening.

Charlotte sat front and centre, sipping on vodka and red bull and clapping as her boyfriend took to the stage.

Speaking to new! magazine, Charlotte, 24, said: 'I’m just not ready for a big thing yet. I like a bit of freedom.'

This may have come as a surprise to Jonathan, who is said to be smitten with the singer after they became close during the making of her album Back to Scratch.

They went public with their romance six weeks after she announced her split from 28-year-old Henson.

Charlotte has also been quite vocal about her feelings for Gavin, who she split from shortly after announcing their engagement.

'The problem with me and Gav was that we were just too different, too far apart. 'His world is alien to me.

'All that training… he’s so strict with what he eats, what time he goes to sleep. And my life was alien to him.'

The lookalike pair certainly mirrored each other's expressions as they stopped by a local ice cream store in Los Angeles yesterday.

It is becoming something of a ritual for the mother and daughter, as Katie treats her four-year-old daughter to her favourite treat after ballet class.

The mini ballerina, her hair in plaits, wore a cute pink leotard with a frilly skirt, pink stockings and ballet shoes to her dancing lesson.

Suri had a look of deep concentration as she tucked into a cup of ice cream.
Katie also looked a little distracted as she carried her ever-growing daughter to the car.

She has been spotted on the set of Adam Sandler's new comedy Jack and Jill.

The film tells the story of Jack who is forced to deal with his twin sister, Jill, when she visits for Thanksgiving, but then won't leave.

Katie plays Jack's wife in the movie, which also stars Al Pacino and Christie Brinkley.

She has also been filming a television movie about former American president John F. Kennedy and his wife Jackie alongside Greg Kinnear.

Meanwhile Tom Cruise has been giving fans and locals in Dubai a heart-thumping thrill shooting daredevil stunts.

The action man was pictured dangling almost 2,717 ft in the air last week as he filmed a death-defying sequence on the tallest building in the world - the Burj Khalifa Tower.

Fans on the street below in the UAE city watched in awe and terror as the 48-year-old ran around the windows below the tower's Observation Deck, 124 floors above the ground, during a chase scene.

He revealed days before the shoot on November 3: 'I'll be spending many days, many hours on the side of this building. I can't give details, but I will be up there.'

And his spokeswoman added: 'Tom has been preparing for the stunt for some time. He believes if he performs the stunts himself, the audience believes more in his character.'
