Building on success after success as it revolutionizes Philippine TV through game-changing programming, TV5 now launches its first-ever daily series, My Driver Sweet Lovers tarting this Monday, October 25, at 10pm. With a unique formula of romance, comedy and light drama, TV5’s first kilig-serye is top-billed by JC de Vera, Danita Paner and Arci Muñoz with the country’s biggest stars like Richard Gomez, Eric Quizon, Keempee de Leon, Eddie Gutierrez, Nova Villa, Pilita Corrales and Dina Bonnevie.
Perci Intalan, TV5 Head of Creative and Entertainment Production, relates the network’s anticipation on its latest venture, "Finally, we’re geared up to break with tradition by offering a new twist on typical drama. We trust that we’re in the right direction because we’ve got a great story to tell, and powerhouse cast and crew buckled up to perfect the ride. TV5 has started winning weekends. Now we’re making weeknights more exciting."
Rocky (JC de Vera) is a jeepney driver whose charm and street smart background often leave all the girls hooked, except for his usual enemy, Gabrielle (Danita Paner), a cranky and workaholic hotel heiress. The history of fighting cat and dog began in an orphanage—a young Rocky was abandoned by his father; while Gabrielle was an obese, lost squire who was brought there after an attempted kidnap to steal her inheritance. But when Gabrielle was accidentally reunited with her family, the two had lost contact until they crossed paths at present. Separated by fate, their gap grows wider through an intense dislike and a yawning divide brought by class and money. The cunning Monique (Arci Muñoz) makes Gabrielle’s life even more difficult as she pulls everything to steal Rocky from her.
This much-awaited kilig-serye is led by a stellar cast of the most bankable artists of their generation, including the country’s finest actors: Mr. Richard Gomez as Delfin, a wealthy businessman whose past brings his son back to memory; Mr. Eric Quizon as Aaron Barrinuevo, Gabrielle's father; and Ms. Dina Bonnevie as Araceli, Gabrielle’s stepmother who subtly yearns for Aaron's fortunes.
My Driver Sweet Lover (or My DSL as the cast fondly call it) is made even glitzier with Philippine entertainment’s veteran actors such as Mr. Eddie Gutierrez as Lolo George, the jeepney driver who adopted Rocky; Ms. Pilita Corrales as Abuela Maxi, the very rich but oblivious matriarch of the Barrinuevos; and Ms. Nova Villa as Aling Virgie, the snooty landlady who tries hard to gain her social status. The two classic grannies will rival each other to win the heart of groovy Lolo George.
Also in the series are the best combination of household comedy; Epi Quizon as Jimrod, the over-strict head butler of the Barrinuevo mansion; Yayo Aguila as Yaya Auring, a devoted helper in the mansion, Ruby Rodriguez as Yaya Tabs, Gabrielle’s nursemaid; and Keempee de Leon as Von, Gabrielle’s best friend. It also stars Tom Rodriguez as Simon, Gabrielle’s new item and manager to one of the Barrinuevo’s resorts.
Completing the all-star cast are some of today’s young stars including Carla Humphries as Colleen, BJ Forbes as Bert Ngisi, Meg Imperial as Millet, Chris Pasturan as Asyong Afro, Alyanna Asistio as Andrea, JR de Guzman as Ned, Cai Cortez as Mini, Kristel Goodwin as France, and Ramon Christopher as Mang Tisoy.
My DSL is helmed by directors Eric Quizon and Soxie Topacio, with a top-notch production headed by Edlyn Tallada-Abuel as Production Unit Manager and Elmer Gatchalian as creative consultant.
Will Rocky and Gabrielle rediscover each other before he falls for Monique’s trap? Join the most kilig ride on TV in My Driver Sweet Lover, starting on October 25, Mondays to Fridays, 10pm on TV5.
