Charice Wins 'Icon of Tomorrow Award'

Charice won the Icon of Tomorrow prize in J-14 magazine’s Teen Icon Awards, besting her 5 other fellow teen nominees from the United States and Australia.

An article posted on her fan site on Tuesday announced the 18-year-old international singing sensation's victory. The efforts of the so-called “Charice Internet Army” had paid off after the Filipino singer got the highest number of votes in the Icon of Tomorrow category.

She defeated teen stars Bella Thorne, Bridgit Mendler, Frankie Jonas and Greyson Chance from the US and Australian Cody Simpson.

The winners are featured in the magazine’s December issue.

In early September, Charice called out to all her supporters to help her win in the online voting for J-14 magazine’s Teen Icon Awards. Charice’s mother, Raquel, and her fans club had led the campaign.

According to the J-14 website, the first-ever Teen Icon Awards honored the hottest teen stars, movies, television shows, music, and web stars over the past year.

The award is the “Pyramid” singer’s newest achievement since invading the international music scene.

Recently, the Filipino songstress ranked No. 4 in US Billboard's Top Stars Under 21.

Her 2nd international single, “Pyramid,” has also reached the top of the Billboard dance/club play chart. The New York Daily News reported that she might be the first Asian to become a major pop singer in the US.

She is also one of the latest additions to the cast of hit American television series “Glee” where she plays Sunshine Corazon, a Filipino exchange student.
