They're one of the most sought-after couples in showbusiness, but Rihanna and boyfriend Matt Kemp are still trying to maintain a low-key relationship.

As they jetted out of London today to head to Madrid, Spain, the pair attempted to go incognito, but were spotted by photographers as they arrived at Heathrow Airport.

While baseball player Matt kept it simple with a hood pulled up over his head, Rihanna drew slightly more attention to herself by concealing her face under a huge black shawl.

Rihanna, who has been working hard promoting her upcoming album Loud in London, has flown to Spain ahead of this weekend's MTV European Music Awards where she will perform her new single Only Girl (In The World).

The ceremony on Sunday, hosted by Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, will also see performances from Miley Cyrus, Kings Of Leon, Ke$ha, Shakira and Linkin Park.

But one of the most hotly-anticipated performances comes from Rihanna, whose fans have been eagerly awaiting the new album, due for release on November 16.

Loved-up: Rihanna said recently being with Matt had caused her to start smiling again

Talking about the record, which is Rihanna's fifth studio album, she said: 'Overall, I would say that the album is the most true Rihanna album, in terms of the sound and the energy and the look and the vibe of it, and the lyrics and the West Indian twang.

'Everything about it is tailored to me, and nobody else could have done any of those songs, which is why I love it because you hear it and you get it.'
And while Rihanna's professional life is going from strength to strength, her personal life is also following suit.

The Barbadian singer, who started dating Matt in January, said in a recent interview that being with the sportsman has caused her to start 'smiling' again.

She told Marie Claire magazine: 'I feel like I smile for real this time. The smiles come from inside, and it exudes in everything I do. People feel my energy is different. When I smile they can tell that it’s pure bliss and not just a cover up.

'The most important thing is to be happy and true to yourself. I don’t want to look back at this 30 years from now and say, "I did it all to make them happy and I didn’t enjoy it".I want to be able to say people loved me because of who I am.'
