Sneak Peek: “Final Destination 5”

No matter where you run, no matter where you hide…you can’t cheat death.

In New Line Cinema’s “Final Destination 5,” Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man’s premonition saves a group of co-workers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda.

The second of the Final Destination films to be shot in 3D, “Final Destination 5” is directed by Steve Quale, marking his major feature film directorial debut. The film brings together an ensemble cast led by Emma Bell (“Frozen,” TV’s “The Walking Dead”) and Nicholas D’Agosto (TV’s “Heroes”), along with Miles Fisher (TV’s “Mad Men” and “Gossip Girl”), Arlen Escarpeta (“Friday the 13th”), Jacqueline MacInnes-Wood (TV’s “The Bold and the Beautiful”), P.J. Byrne (“Dinner for Schmucks”) and Ellen Wroe (TV’s “Huge”).

Rounding out the rest of the cast are Courtney B. Vance (TV’s “Flash Forward,” “ER”), David Koechner (“The Office,” “Anchorman”) and “Final Destination” franchise icon Tony Todd.

Collaborating with Steve Quale behind the scenes are director of photography Brian Pearson (“Drive Angry 3D,” “My Bloody Valentine 3D”); production designer David R. Sandefur (“Repo Men,” “Journey to the Center of the Earth”); editor Eric Sears (“Shooter”) and costume designer Jori Woodman (“Eight Below”).

Opening soon across the Philippines in 3D and regular format, “Final Destination 5” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Leighton Meester in “Monte Carlo”

‘Gossip Girl’ star Leighton Meester takes us on a trip out with the girls en route to Europe in the romantic comedy “Monte Carlo” with Selena Gomez, Katie Cassidy and Cory Monteith (Glee).

Grace (Gomez) is an ordinary girl who becomes an accidental princess when a summer trip to Paris turns into the fantasy of a lifetime. But Grace’s killjoy stepsister Meg (Leighton Meester) is involuntarily installed as chaperone by Grace’s mother. Grace and Emma, however, will not be deterred, and soon enough, the two friends, with Megan in tow, arrive in France. Scurried past famed landmarks by a hyperactive tour guide, and discouraged by their “luxury” accommodations and frequent tiffs, the trio’s spirits sag like the behinds of knit-panted American tourists.

Fortunes change, however, when Grace is mistaken for British socialite Cordelia Winthrop Scott. When the girls inadvertently take possession of Cordelia’s invitation to a ritzy charity ball in Monte Carlo, they seize the moment, they embark on a romantic adventure of yacht parties, polo matches and highly eligible bachelors

Both girls see the presence of Meg (Meester) as an unwelcome intrusion – a fly in their sparkling glass of bubbly. Simply put, she’s never been known as the life of the party. “Meg recently lost her mother, and is still a bit traumatized over it. She’s somewhat excited to visit France, but not under these circumstances, and certainly not with these two girls,” explains Leighton Meester.

Q. You play Meg, Grace’s stepsister. What’s that character like?
A. Meg starts off very differently from the way she ends up. She’s kind of a dork, and she’s a little bit uptight. She recently lost her mother, which is a really difficult thing to go through and Meg’s finding it hard. Meg only goes on trip because her father pretty much forces her to.

Q. Could you relate to her?
A. Definitely! I hope I’m able to be a little more adventurous than she is at the start, but at least she’s willing and she has the potential inside her. Meg is a very practical character, and I’m totally impractical, but I admire that about her.

Q. What was the hardest scene to film?
A. Honestly, the only hard part has been the long days and the early starts. Everything else has been fun. When we were in Paris we had to start filming at 3AM so we could shoot on the Eiffel Tower when no one else was there. So although getting up that day was hard, having the whole of the Eiffel Tower to ourselves was an incredible experience! We also got to be in the Louvre by ourselves, which was amazing.

Q. Meg doesn’t get on with Grace and Emma straight away. How long did it take you to get to know Selena and Katie?
A. Those two girls have been awesome. It’s been wonderful working with them. I knew Katie a little before, and she’s coming on Gossip Girl, which I’m so excited about. Because we’ve seen each other every day, we’ve become like a family. I think it says a lot if you can see the same people all the time and not get sick of them. I feel very protective of them both, and I think they feel the same about me.

Q. Is there any romantic gossip from the set?
A. There are some very, very cute boys in this movie, but as far as I know there isn’t any gossip. I’m really pleased with how they got cast - cute and talented is a great combination. I like them all.

Q. How do Meg’s outfits compare to those of the other characters you’ve played?
A. Honestly, I don’t think it matters if a character has high end or low end clothes as long as you feel like they’re definitely a part of that character’s wardrobe. In the film we’re all whisked away to Monte Carlo by accident, and we don’t get to bring many clothes with us. I’m in the same outfit for most of the film. There’s a fabulous gown I get to wear at the end. It’s beautiful, but it’s couture and really heavy. When we started filming the scene, I was so excited to wear it, but by the end my body was aching so much I would have been happy never to see it again!
Q. Have you had any time to go shopping?
A. Walking down the street here is like walking through a fashion magazine! It’s tricky to make the time, but I have gone to Gucci. I bought a really cute little purse, and a sweater from Celine as well. I’ve got some great souvenirs from this trip!

“Monte Carlo” opens July 1 in theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Elijah Wood Stars in FX Comedy Series "Wilfred"

Elijah Wood stars with Jason Gann in FX’s new comedy series “Wilfred”.

The "Lord of The Rings" star takes the role of Ryan, a suicidal lawyer who sees his neighbor’s pet as a man in a shaggy-dog outfit.

It’s extremely funny but it’s also coming out of a very real place.” Wood told The Hollywood Reporter, adding “It made me laugh and also presented the opportunity to do comedy, which I’d never really done before. You’re always looking for a challenge and something different and new, so it was just an avenue that I’d never traveled down. I think I was just excited to see what would become of that.”

The series is based on 2002 short film and subsequent Australian hit series by the same name and topbilled by co- creator/actor Jason Gann as Wilfred.

Wilfred is a foul-mouthed, chain-smoking, bong-loving flea bag who decides to be Ryan’s life coach — possibly to keep him away from his owner, the beautiful Jenna (Fiona Gubelmann).

He aims to awaken Ryan’s animal instincts, but his schemes invariably get Ryan into trouble with the law.

He coerces him into breaking into the neighborhood bully’s (Ethan Suplee, “My Name is Earl”) home and stealing his pot plants.

Then each of them takes a dump in his boot.

"Wilfred" premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. on FX.

What the deuce is she wearing? Bethanie Mattek-Sands plays at Wimbledon in another Lady Gaga-inspired outfit

By EMILY ANDREWS and GABBY MORGAN

Ball girl: Bethanie Mattek-Sands wears an unusual bespoke outfit for her first match at Wimbledon today

A quick glance and you might have mistaken her for some sort of quirky pop star.

Not for nothing is Bethanie Mattek-Sands known as the Lady Gaga of tennis.

The American baffled fans as she stepped out on court yesterday in war paint and a white bomber jacket decorated with spray-painted white tennis balls chopped in half.

And when she removed her coat, the white dress she had on underneath appeared to have lost a sleeve.

All white? The white fringed jacket was created by Lady Gaga's own fashion designers

The outfit complemented an armful of colourful tattoos, socks pulled up to the knees and the face paint. The 26-year-old claimed that was actually a couple of anti-glare patches.

Miss Mattek-Sands had already turned heads with an equally bizarre tennis ball outfit at a pre-Wimbledon party last week, which was designed by one of Lady Gaga's own dressers.

Ball-girl: Mattek-Sands arrives for her match against Japan's Misaki Doi

British designer Alex Noble had again been commissioned for yesterday's outfit.

Unfortunately for Miss Mattek-Sands, it failed to inspire her to victory.

Despite going into the match as the firm favourite and 30th seed, she lost in three sets to Japan's Misaki Doi. And her decorum appeared to desert her as she refused to shake the umpire's hand at the end.

The tongue-in-cheek number is just another example of how players are working around the rules to make fashion more prominent on court.

Skin art: The tennis player shows off her tattoos in a one-shouldered top

On Monday, Venus Williams wore a Greek-inspired romper suit by her own brand Eleven. And high-end label Ralph Lauren have designed new uniforms for the ball-boys.

Mattek-Sands said last month: 'I don't think I can really challenge the colour rule right now. You know, I got to figure something out. Obviously the white, you got to work with a lot of the cuts.

'Obviously I'll be wearing my high socks. But yeah, it's always challenging to think of new things for Wimbledon.

Ryan Murphy Confirms Lea Michele and Cory Monteith Will Leave "Glee"

Glee creator Ryan Murphy finally speak to put an end to all the rumor surrounding the Glee cast’s departure next year.

"There’s no dodging the issue — all of the Glee characters who were juniors this past season will graduate from McKinley High in May 2012, with their portrayers presumably leaving the show." he told Ryan Seacrest.

Murphy held firm to his previously revealed transition plan, saying that for original characters such as Rachel (Lea Michele), Finn (Cory Monteith), Quinn (Diana Agron) and Puck (Mark Salling), “This next season will be their senior year, and then that they will graduate.”

Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch will be staying on the show to teach the kids that are left behind that we probably won’t love as much.

Princess Diana's Dresses Up for Auction

On June 25, 1997, just eight weeks before she died, Princess Diana auctioned off 79 of her most-famous dresses in order to raise money for charity. "The inspiration for this wonderful sale comes from just one person... our son William," she wrote at the time.

The auction, held at Christie's New York, drew 1,100 bidders (and 220 journalists) and, in just two and a half hours, all of the dresses were sold, bringing in more than $3.6 million.

Fourteen of those iconic dresses went to Maureen Rorech Dunkel, a Florida businesswoman who paid $670,000 for them, including a record $225,000 for the midnight-blue velvet stunner that Princess Diana wore when she danced with John Travolta at the White House in 1985. She intended to turn the dresses into a traveling collection meant to inspire young girls and keep the memory of Princess Diana alive. But bankruptcy has forced Dunkel to put the priceless fashion finds up for auction again, this time to pay off her massive debts, estimated at more than $2.5 million.

In a note published by Waddington's, the Canadian auction house that's organizing the sale, Dunkel writes that she originally bought the dresses "strictly with the eye of an investor."

"The strategy I determined would be most valuable was to collect an array of important dresses, which visually depicted the style transformation of the Princess who was claimed to be the most notable style icon of the century," she wrote. "I methodically chose pieces, which represented Diana's 'look' as the future Queen of England... from the early '80s through the late '90s."

"Selling the collection is a poignant and personal event to me," she added. "My only hope is that the new owners of the dresses, whoever they may be, enjoy them as I have and in some way use them to assist those in need. After all, that is the reason Princess Diana put them up for sale to begin with."

Most of the dresses in Dunkel's collection were designed by Catherine Walker; the others are by Bruce Oldfield, Victor Edelstein, Zandra Rhodes White, and Jacob Schaepfer - all British designers.

Though the dresses did tour the world for a while, spending time back in Kensington Palace as part of a royal ceremonial dress collection, they also ended up at Disney World and on display in a furniture shop in Tampa, Florida. They were also used to secure a $1.5 million loan for a real estate deal that collapsed. "She worked out a plan to pay all her creditors in full. After these dresses are sold, her creditors will be paid first," Dunkel's attorney, Jeffrey Warren, told the St. Petersburg Times. "And the dresses are far more valuable than what she owes."

The 14 gowns are expected to bring in about $4 million; the one Diana wore to the White House may bring in $1 million on its own. While we wait to find out how much money they fetch, let's take a look the dresses themselves.

Check out the list of Princess Diana's famous dresses for auction HERE.

Sam Concepcion Directs "Face Off" Concert by Tippy Dos Santos and Morissette Amon

Stages’ Tippy Dos Santos eclipsed her contemporaries in the ABS-CBN youth show "Shoutout." Talent5’s Morissette Amon snatched the second top plum in the Kapatid Network’s talent search "Star Factor."

Now think: What if the two are "pitted" against each other?

The answer will be revealed on July 2, 5:30 p.m., at the Entertainment Hall of Robinsons Midtown Ermita, when they battle it out in the concert aptly titled "Face Off."

Will Tippy’s theater background, World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) title, and her mestiza features propel her to be hailed the better performer? Or, will Morissette’s Sarah Geronimo-like charm, strong pipes, and experiences as singing search contestant be enough for her to emerge on top?

At her young age, Tippy may well be considered stage veteran having been part of musical productions like "Children’s Letters To God" and "Beauty and the Beast." She is slated to be Sam Concepcion’s partner in STAGES’ production of "Peter Pan."

More than the duel between me and Morissette, I think this concert would showcase the talent of the Filipino youth,” says Tippy. “It will be a fun show. I hope everyone can watch.”

Morissette, on the other hand, started singing at a very young age, trooping to various singing contests in her native Cebu. She had just finished waxing her debut album.

“Cars 2” Marks Pixar Animation Studio’s 25th Anniversary

The release of “Cars 2,” Pixar Animation Studio’s 12th full-length animated feature, coincides with the 25th anniversary of the celebrated studio.

With 12 incredible films and a wide variety of innovative and imaginative shorts and commercials over the course of 25 years, Pixar had an enviable and unmatched track record at the box office, revolutionized the way movies are made and entertained audiences all over the world.

I just can’t believe it’s been 25 years and we’ve completed our 12th movie,” says Oscar-winning fillmaker John Lasseter, the creative leader of Pixar since its inception and chief creative officer Walt Disney Studios.

It’s kind of neat — ‘Cars’ came out on the 20th anniversary, and ‘Cars 2’ is coming out on the 25th. But I’m very, very proud of Pixar — very proud of all our films and all the characters,” adds Lasseter. “What means the most to me are the people — all the families, all the moviegoers that we’ve entertained. That is why we do what we do, pure and simple. It’s about making the highest-quality films. Not just animated films, but films that truly, deeply entertain audiences of all ages, of all genders, of all nationalities. That’s what we set out to do. We just make movies, the kind of movies we like to watch.”

Pixar has come a long way since its 1986 beginning, when Steve Jobs purchased the computer-graphics division of Lucasfilm Ltd. for $10 million and the new studio was christened “Pixar.” Under the guidance of Ed Catmull, John Lasseter and an incredibly talented group of storytellers, animators and technical geniuses, the studio continues to raise the bar for great filmmaking.

The studio's roster of full-length animation features have redefined the genre, and have remained everyone's all-time favorites: “Toy Story” (1995), “A Bug's Life” (1998), “Toy Story 2” (1999), “Monster's Inc.” (2001), “Finding Nemo” (2003), “The Incredibles” (2004), “Cars” (2006), “Ratatouille” (2007), “WALL-E” (2008), “Up” (2009) and “Toy Story 3” (2010). Six of these films have won the coveted Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The global love affair with Pixar films continues, and “Cars 2” represents one of Pixar’s proudest achievements to date. In the film, star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car.

John Lasseter returns to the driver’s seat as director of this latest “Cars” adventure. The film is co-directed by Brad Lewis (producer of Oscar®-winning “Ratatouille”), who spearheaded the intense research and initial story development until Lasseter was able to slip back into the director’s chair.

“Cars 2” is presented where available in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX 3D and uses the latest technical advances to maximum advantage in giving audiences a front-row seat (as well as a car’s eye view) for all the racing action, and stunning global settings. Pixar’s phenomenal technical team also takes the medium to exciting new heights, utilizing state-of-the-art tools for modeling, lighting, shading and rendering.

Opening soon across the Philippines, “Cars 2” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

First Look: Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx in “Rock of Ages”

You've never seen or heard Tom Cruise like this before.

In New Line Cinema's “Rock of Ages,” next year's big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway jukebox musical that celebrates the '80s heyday of power ballads and glam metal, Cruise transforms into Stacee Jaxx, a superstar devotee of hair-band excess.

"His character has elements of Axl Rose, Keith Richards and Bret Michaels," says director Adam Shankman. "We did a huge amount of research on what people were going through in this period." He also relied on personal experience. "I knew a lot of these people because my dad was a music business manager."

It was Cruise, a fan of Shankman's version of “Hairspray” with John Travolta, who first approached him with the idea of doing a movie musical together. One problem: "But I couldn't think of what musical would work with him," the director says.

But after seeing Cruise dance with wife Katie Holmes as she sang “Whatever Lola Wants” at a charity event last year and pull off his comedy shtick as obnoxious producer Les Grossman in “Tropic Thunder” and on MTV, Shankman was convinced he might be right for the “Rock of Ages” front man.

"I thought, who better to play the biggest rock god in the world but the biggest movie star in the world?" Just to make sure, the actor's vocal chops were put to the test after some coaching. Turns out, "He has a huge voice."

Just as Shankman adjusted “Hairspray” when it went from stage to screen, so, too, has “Rock of Ages” undergone a makeover. "It is the exact same spirit. But the tone on Broadway was campier, which makes it difficult to connect to the characters. We raise the emotional stakes. We had to give it some weight."

That includes changing Jaxx from less of a predatory snake to more of a lost boy. "We made him what these guys are, man children," Shankman says. "Someone no one says no to. More of an innocent who does something wrong and doesn't know it."

While Cruise gets to belt out classics of the era such as Bon Jovi's “Wanted Dead or Alive,” Scorpions' “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and joins in a group performance of Journey's “Don't Stop Believin',” he also tackles a fair share of fancy footwork choreographed by Mia Michaels of TV's “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Says Shankman, "Does Tom dance? Let me put it this way. He is dancing so much, we are all exhausted and laying down on the floor. He is dancing us into the ground. I've never seen someone who wants to rehearse more."

Bonnes vacances! Lily Allen and Sam Cooper celebrate their honeymoon with a kiss in Paris

Bonnes vacances! Lily Allen and husband Sam Cooper are celebrating their marriage with a honeymoon in Paris

Lily Allen and Sam Cooper are celebrating their new life together as husband and wife with a honeymoon in Paris.

The couple, who married earlier this month, have decided to enjoy a romantic break in the French capital ahead of their planned visit to the Glastonbury music festival next week.

Lily, who is three months pregnant, and Sam grabbed some food at the world-famous Brasserie Lipp before taking in some culture at the Musée d'Orsay.

The 26-year-old singer dressed casually in a beige cardigan, jeans and black pumps, accessorised with her favourite black Chanel handbag for the day out with her new husband.

As well as working as a chic addition to her outfit, Lily's handbag also hid her burgeoning baby bump.

Lily and Sam tied the knot at St James the Great Church in Cranham, near Stroud, in Gloucestershire on 11th June.

Following the service, Lily tweeted: 'I had the most amazing wedding, thank you to everyone who went to such extraordinary efforts to make it that way.'

And their wedding day was made even more special by the fact that Lily's groom Sam announced that the singer is pregnant.

A friend told the Mail on the day: 'There were tears all around.

'This is the happiest day of Lily and Sam's lives and they are so in love. This is the icing on the wedding cake!'

The news marks the end of a heartbreaking few months for Lily after she lost the much-longed for baby boy at six months pregnant in November.

Her appearance in her lace custom-made vintage-style dress sparked a rush of rumours that she was expecting.

And now designer Delphine Manivet has revealed Lily had planned to be pregnant for her big day, and knew she would be having a baby when she chose the dress back in January.

She told Grazia magazine: 'We knew from the beginning - way back in January - that Lily wanted to get pregnant, so I designed the dress she wore underneath in silk tulle to be comfortable over a little bump.

'We were very excited when she told us the news. It was beautiful.'
